Library and Technology News

I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break and time together as a family. This month we are working on Digital Citizenship. The students are learning and practicing Sharing safely, protecting their information, being kind on devices, and being smart about fake news.

Is where we are going to find many of our lessons and videos for Digital Citizenship. Check it out.

Children have either a MyOn account or GetEpic.com that they can use to read over the holiday break.

BOOK EXCHANGE

Please get all of your child’s late library books returned before Christmas Break. We have many students with books overdue from September.

As a thank you, We are having a book exchange on Friday for any students who would like to bring in 5 or less books to swap out with classmates.

Be looking tonight for newer, gently used books that your friends will want to take home.

Ms. Nichols will check all books brought in and add acceptable items to the exchange.

She asks, Please no board books, coloring books, books with coloring or tears or books from kids meals. This is a great opportunity to weed out your bookshelf and bring home up to 5 new books to read over break.

Students will receive a ticket to bring to the exchange on their library day that week. We are accepting: picture books, chapter books, and non-fiction books. The maximum number of books a student may bring in is 5.

Students may exchange books in the Media Center during their class based on the number of books they’ve donated.

Book Criteria

Please make choices carefully before bringing in books. Please find gently used choices to swap. Books will be checked and only be accepted under the following guidelines:

• Books must be appropriate for grades PreK-6

• Books must be in gently used condition: cover on, no rips, tears, or bent edges

• Books with coloring or writing in them will not be accepted

• Coloring books, board books, activity books, and sticker books will not be accepted

• Books from kids’ meals will not be accepted (Chick-fil-a, McDonalds, etc.)

Please note that the selection of books available will be based on books donated. We cannot ensure specific titles, etc.
